Double-click Options in Autodesk Revit 2020

Learn how to open Family Type Properties instead of Family Editor when you double-click on a Revit file.

Hi, my name is Connor Taiariol, and I am a BIM Technical Specialist here at Redcage Solutions.

Here is a short Revit tip regarding double-click options.

Often I find that I accidentally double-click on a family and it opens the Family Editor but I most commonly use Type properties.

So to change this, we are going to click on File > Options > User Interface and underneath keyboard shortcuts, we will see Double-click Options.

Click on Customize and change Edit Family to Edit Type under the double-click action for the Element Type: Family.

Now instead of opening the Family Editor on double-clicking, it will open the Family Type Properties.

This menu is probably most commonly when working with a Revit file.

I hope this tip helps you in your Revit processes.
