Do you have a perpetual license on a maintenance plan? If yes, then this is for you and right on time!
Do you have a perpetual license on a maintenance plan? How much is your maintenance dollar getting you compared to what you could be getting?
You’re likely aware that Autodesk has joined the subscription-based delivery method embraced by other leading SaaS companies such as Adobe and Microsoft. They now only sell subscription licenses to their software.
Their latest bundle of industry specific products called ‘collections’ can only be accessed via subscription. For the building industry, they have an AEC Industry Collection of essential BIM tools that includes Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage and more. For manufacturing, they have a Product Design Collection of design and engineering tools for products and factory design including Inventor Professional, AutoCAD, Vault and more. They also have a Media & Entertainment Collection for 3D animation.
Will those of us on maintenance plan be impacted?
Maintenance plan costs will be increasing incrementally over the next couple years. Beginning May 7, 2017, maintenance plan renewal prices will increase by 5% in 2017, 10% in 2018, and 20% in 2019.
Software advancement and development will be invested in subscription delivery.
SWITCHING TO SUBSCRIPTION IS THE BEST MOVE for companies that want to stay on the leading edge of technology and scale into the future.
But we purchased our perpetual licenses and have been careful to renew our maintenance plan year after year. It doesn’t seem fair for us to switch? Can anything be done for us to make the transition attractive?
Autodesk is offering a special, exclusive, discount for those switching from maintenance to subscription. No one else will get these prices.
At the time of your maintenance renewal you will have options:
• Move your product to subscription
• Switch to an industry collection
• Renew your maintenance plan for one year
Many products on maintenance plans will be eligible to switch to subscription. When you choose to switch, you will be required to give up your perpetual license for any seats you switch.
You don’t have to switch, but if you do, you will secure your discount pricing. The price to switch will increase 5% in 2018 and another 5% in 2019, so the earlier customers switch to subscription, the less it will cost.
If you have a Building Design Suite Premium, you get MUCH more value for your same dollars that you currently pay on maintenance.
If you have a Building Design Suite Ultimate and don’t need Inventor, the AEC Collection not only offers more value but a significantly lower subscription cost.
If you have a Product Design Suite Premium, you get MUCH more value for your same dollars that you currently pay on maintenance.
If you have a Product Design Suite Ultimate the Product Design Collection not only offers more value (including Factory Design Utilities) but a significantly lower subscription cost.
