Key Features of Autodesk Licensing Changes – Part 2: User Accounts
Part 2 of 4 in a series that summarizes the key features you need to know regarding licensing changes.
Accessing your Downloads
With all the changes in the last year, it can be challenging for the average user to know where, or how, to access software downloads or how to activate the software. Whether you have old perpetual licenses that you’re maintaining or if you’re on the term-based subscription your download is accessible on Autodesk Accounts.
After you sign in make sure you select Management to be able to access the products.
Who can access it at the start? Whoever is the Contract Admin, they have the ability to access the downloads and set up users. How can you tell if you are the contract admin? Let’s take a look at the screens:
If you see 2 selections – Products & Services and Reporting – then you’re a normal user.
If you see 4 selections – Products & Services, Reporting, Devices, and Users – then you’re a Software Coordinator. (Note: Screen may be a little different then what you see here).
If you see 5 Selections – Products & Services, Reporting, Devices, Users, and Billing & Orders – then you are the Contract Admin.
Now that you know what level of user you are, let’s look at each of the 5 selections to see what can be done.
Products & Services
If you have been assigned a Product or Service, it will show up here. If you don’t see anything, or only see the free services, then the Products or Services need to be assigned by a Software Coordinator or the Contract Admin, in the user selection. From here you can download the current product or older version, if you have put a request in for the previous version. You can see the serial numbers (Software Coordinators and Contract Admins only), and you can see product updates from here.
To access the download that was assigned to you, simply select “Downloads” for the product you wish to access. After that you can select the version of the product (current and 3 years back), the platform (32 or 64 bit), the language, and the download method from the dialog box that appears.
If you are the Software Coordinator or the Contract Admin you will see “More Actions”. Depending on the license type, you will see different requests and license information.
In this case the Revit is a multi-user license so I can see the Generate network license file here.
You can download updates and add-ons for your products here as well. Simply click on Updates & Add-ons for a list. If you are a Software Coordinator or a Contract Admin you can see the serial number here as well.
In this case we can see updates for Inventor that may need to be installed. To access them select Browser download or select More options for other download methods.
You could also use the Autodesk Desktop Manager App, to manage what installs you apply to a computer.
This concludes the look at where to access the downloads in your Autodesk Account. If you have more questions about licensing please feel free to contact us or to keep checking out the other licensing documents (4 part series):
